How to decide what to work on for a portfolio/job?
How to decide between two things you love to do?
I’ve been in a bit of a rut trying to make a decision about a career & I guess a dream.

I’ve always wanted to write & draw my own comic strip and have it published in a paper. I have however spoken to a few people who write syndicated comic strips and they almost always talk about having a "real job" on the side for money & insurance purposes.

I’ve also considered writing & illustrating childrens books……

I believe with the childrens books I could build a better portfolio and possibly get full time work in a related field doing illustrations – however, with comic strips I’m not going to be able to build such a great portfolio because of the more simple nature of the art.

So what do I do?

1. I could work on a childrens book and I feel I would be killing two birds with one stone by doing something I want to do, and by adding some more quality illustrations to my portfolio…

2. Go for the comic strips which are different because the art is more simple, so I would have to find extra time to get some work in my portfolio. This is less work, but I have to assume I wouldn’t be burned out from all of the drawing….

…the only other thing I am doing is gigs for other people via craigslist. I just don’t know what to do for myself.

I would go with 1, it seems like it would earn you more money and a more stable job, in this economy, that’s what you want, doesn’t matter how much work piles up, just matters that you’re lucky to have a job that you can live off of.

Can having a cold cause nightmares or weird dreams?
Since Friday I’ve been having bad dreams & that’s when I first started to get a cold. It’s only been two nights, but so far one of the dreams was I was in New York with my friend, & then she left & there was a shooting near me. I got on a bus & the only way to get to my family was by going over a bridge. I was too scared to go over the bridge alone. Then, the next dream was that I was waiting for my mom to pick me up from track practice. This guy picked me up & his friend was in the car. We got onto this highway & there was a string from his car. They said that the string was to make a pattern around the sun (O_O!) They told me that the pattern was of a fox hugging another fox (again… O_O!) Then for some reason we pulled over & just left the car there. Then we walked across the high way to where someone was standing. The person standing there headlocked one of the guys & we walked off an exit to a gas station. I asked the other guy what was going on & he said, "The guy is going to give us a ride. They headlock you so you don’t run away."

…I have no idea why this is happening but I wake up every morning really scared. Is it possible to stop it?

i am sad. My teachers don't think about me at all.?
I am sad people. I’ve tried my hardest in swimming and come second. There are two girls and they are both sisters- both in the same year group. weird huh? but then, i know them for years, and they are in my swimming team. But now i think i hate them. please don;t call me jealous because i am not. I know they are good in swimming.
It has started yesterday, the the school starts handing out booklets the year’s achievements. We’ve won 2 trophies so of course we are in the book. But the thing is, they don’t recognize my effort. I’ve taken more than 5 days to represent my school but they think its nothing. Only do they care about the two sisters. I don’t know how to explain it but see. .. they’ve been training since they were 5 and i started when i was 11. So of course they are better, but i have tried my hardest and now i am just a level below them. So here.. we represent our school in swimming – and all three of us made it into the SCC and the CCC. But in the booklet, they say ‘So our new talented swimmers step but into the the sporting stage and they state their name’ but they don’t mention mine at all!!! They keep talking about how talented these two are but not one word to me. I’ve spent a lot of time representing the school, but – well they have included a foto of me – but i don’t care about photos – i care about what they feel towards me. They don’t even think about me . All they care is about winning the trophies and getting good stupid points. They don’t care about the swimmer, who comes after the two sisters, and has represented the school with her very best.

ITS NOT FAIR! I KNOW I AM NOT AS GOOD AS THEM! BUT I HAVE BEEN TRYING! I HAVE BEEN SHREDDING MY TEARS FOR THE MEAN SCHOOL! THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT FAST PEOPLE! THEY DON’T CARE!! I DON’T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN! I AM NOT VERY DETAILED! BUT THEN…I TRY MY BEST TO EXPRESS MY FEELINGS TO YOU! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT?! Why don’t you think about the kids who CAN’T go to any school because they get abused by their parents every day and get punched in the eyes and burnt with cigar stumps? I know a girl who only has stumps where her hands used to be because her parents cut them off… CUT THEM OFF!! How would you swim with no hands!? Just these little sweaty stumps. She can’t pick up pencils or tie her shoelaces. She even needs someone to help her wipe after she goes to the loo. How would you like that, ey? STUMPS!! Love your own self and stop caring about these negativity of people. They don’t know you and your life and how hard it is. Buy a dog like my little puupy Schnauzer, PeeWee, and open your life to a new life of dogs and things. You can buy another dog because Schnauzers are lots of dollars and maybe you are not a lot of money in you pockets.

Dogs like to swim too but not in public pool as they have bad bowel control. Swim in the sea and the river with a new dog and love your life again.

Need some advice on trouble with friend?
We have had some problems in the past but I think it is over. I don’t think the whole movie is about a bank robbery, but there’s this part where a really nervous guy is holding people hostage in a bank and they’re all tied together with the bomb. Whoever the protagonist is ends up saving them all by killing the guy and bringing the police back the guys hand that’s holding the bomb trigger button. i can’t remember what movie it is!

Is the Hitman movie canon? When does it take place in the timeline?
From what I have seen of the Hitman movie, it should take place in between the first and second games, yet sometime after or before Contacts. Would this make it canon? However, the actor and the scriptwriting stunk for 47 because I know he would probably never love… He is a ruthless, clone assassin after all…

The cast did another movie that was called Fierce Creatures in 97.

Oscar with Sly was good don’t know about the crime factor. I would also look at Johnny Dangerously old Michael Keaton from the 80s. A little more modern but funny is Snatch and Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels. These last 2 are British films by Guy Ritchie. A little violent but also funny. Not quite like Wanda.

Help with my story, please?
Two things I need help with! First, I’m having trouble coming up with a simile for "heart pounding". My sentence is, "I focused on the pounding of my heart, which sounded like.. and I willed it to slow down." I’ve thought of some things, but they’re not really as good as I’d like. You don’t have to write it to go along with that, I can always rewrite the sentence!

Second thing is just a simple yes or no thing, does this sentence sound like it ends too abruptly? "…I listened intently to the small noises he made as he slept, the pitter-patter of the rain hitting his roof and the ground, and the sounds of the crickets chirping." I sort of feel like something should go after "crickets chirping", but I don’t know, I’d appreciate more opinions.
